StoryRoot is operated by Fig & Olive LLC, a Tennessee limited liability company. We provide AI-generated Book Adventure Packs and personalized reading tools for families at mystoryroot.com.

We collect the following types of information:

• Account information. When you sign up, we collect your email address. If you choose to add a name, we collect that too. We do not require a password — we use email and password authentication.
• Payment information. When you subscribe, payment is processed by Stripe. We do not store your credit card number, expiry date, or CVC. Stripe stores payment information on their secure servers. We receive and store your Stripe customer ID and subscription status.
• Usage information. We collect information about how you use StoryRoot, including the books you enter, the ages you select, and the packs you generate. This helps us improve the product and power our caching system so common books load faster for everyone.
• Device and technical information. We automatically collect basic technical data including your browser type, device type, and general location (country or region). We do not collect precise GPS location.
• Communications. If you email us, we retain that correspondence to respond to your inquiry.

StoryRoot is designed for use by parents and guardians on behalf of their children. We comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).

• We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13.
• All accounts must be created by an adult aged 18 or older.
• Information about a child (such as age and reading preferences) is provided by the parent and remains within the family account.
• We do not display advertising to children or use children's information for advertising purposes.
• If you believe your child under 13 has provided us with personal information without your consent, please contact us at hello@mystoryroot.com and we will delete that information promptly.

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide and operate the StoryRoot service
• Generate Book Adventure Packs tailored to the book and age you enter
• Manage your subscription and process payments through Stripe
• Send you transactional emails including your welcome email, trial reminders, and subscription receipts
• Send you our email newsletter and product updates (you can unsubscribe at any time)
• Improve our product by understanding how families use StoryRoot
• Respond to your support requests
• Comply with legal obligations

We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not sell or rent your information to any third party.

We share your information only in the following limited circumstances:

Service providers. We use a small number of trusted third-party services to operate StoryRoot:

• Stripe — payment processing and subscription management. Stripe Privacy Policy

• Anthropic (Claude API) — AI content generation. The book title and child age you enter are sent to Anthropic's API to generate your pack. We do not send names or email addresses to Anthropic. Anthropic Privacy Policy
• Beehiiv — email delivery. Your email address is stored with Beehiiv to send you StoryRoot emails. Beehiiv Privacy Policy

Each of these providers is contractually required to protect your information and use it only as directed by us.

Legal requirements. We may disclose your information if required to do so by law or in response to valid legal process.

Business transfers. If StoryRoot is acquired or merged with another company, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you by email if this occurs.

We do not share your information with any other third parties.

We retain your account information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service. If you cancel your subscription and request deletion of your account, we will delete your personal information within 30 days, except where we are required by law to retain it.

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information from unauthorized access, loss, or misuse. These measures include encrypted data transmission (HTTPS), secure authentication, and access controls on our database.

• Transactional emails — account confirmation, subscription receipts, trial reminders, and payment notifications. These are required to operate the service and cannot be opted out of.
• Product emails — onboarding tips and StoryRoot updates. You can unsubscribe from these at any time using the unsubscribe link in the email.

Our adventure packs may reference books and authors. Our website may contain links to third-party sites such as book retailers or library resources. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites and encourage you to review their privacy policies.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email at least 14 days before they take effect. The updated policy will always be available at mystoryroot.com/privacy.
